A financial and environmental winner
About Can CleanTech
Can CleanTech is a cutting-edge company specializing in reclaiming precious metals using a unique process to eliminate vulcanized rubber from metal surfaces.
Our focus is primarily on the mining industry, and we have developed a process with numerous applications globally, wherever rubber contaminates metal surfaces. Our strategic location in Fredericton, near the Research and Productivity Council of New Brunswick, supports our continuous research and development efforts.
FEATURED APPLICATIONS
Can CleanTech (CCT) has developed and patented a process that removes rubber from steel surfaces, which cannot be achieved by any other existing process.
While cryogenic cleaning or water jets could be used for this purpose, they have throughput limitations, making the CCT process more financially beneficial. Depending on the specific use, you could save between 50 and 70 percent compared to the cost of new materials.

Currently, rubber-worn items are discarded and replaced with new rubber-lined metal components. This process can be extremely wasteful, costing millions of dollars and needlessly generating thousands of tons of CO2.
In mining, pipes with worn rubber linings are usually thrown away. However, the steel pipe still holds value and can be salvaged using the CCT process. This process removes the rubber, allows for new lining and reinstates the pipe for use. This creates a circular supply system for pipes and significantly reduces Scope 3 emissions.
Supply Chain Transition
Reaching COP 3 emission standards for the mining industry poses a monumental challenge. The CCT process provides an opportunity to eliminate kilotonnes of CO2 emissions annually. Each 20” pipe that is 20’ long generates approximately 1 tonne in CO2 emissions, and transportation of that pipe to the mine site generates hundreds more.
LINEAR SUPPLY CHAIN
In addition to the environmental benefits, introducing the CCT process into existing operations is seamless, resulting in cost savings of up to 70% compared to the traditional linear supply system.
CIRCULAR SUPPLY SYSTEM
The CCT process helps with two significant problems in mining—financial and environmental. Reusing the pipe means there's no need to produce a large amount of new pipe and transport it to the mine site. Since the pipe is already there, the only cost is cleaning and relining. This means the cost is predictable and affordable, and delivery is immediate.
